Starting in both directions! The opening of international cold chain freight trains on the China Laos and China Vietnam railways

On the morning of October 16th, two cold chain freight trains loaded with characteristic fruits and vegetables such as Yunnan West Blue Flower, Chinese Cabbage, and Pomegranate departed from Yanhe Station in Yuxi City, Yunnan Province. They will arrive in Vientiane, Laos and Laojie, Vietnam respectively in one day, marking the official opening of the China Laos and Vietnam Railway International Cold Chain Freight Trains.


The China Laos international cold chain freight train is built based on the China Laos railway, realizing the two-way opening from Kunming, Yuxi, Yunnan to Vientiane, Laos, with a full journey of 26 hours; The China Vietnam International Cold Chain Freight Train is built on the Kunming (Ming) Yuxi River (Kou) Railway and the China Vietnam Meter Gauge Railway, achieving a one-stop direct transportation from Kunming, Yunnan, Yuxi to Laojie in Vietnam, with a total operation of 20 hours. In the early stages of operation of the China Laos and China Vietnam international cold chain freight trains, there will be one train per day from Kunming to Vientiane and one train per week from Kunming to Laojie. The railway department will dynamically adjust the frequency of train operations according to customer needs to meet customer needs.


Tao Qiang, Deputy Director of the Freight Department of China Railway Kunming Bureau Group Co., Ltd., introduced that this train has the characteristics and advantages of safety and stability, strong timeliness, sufficient transportation capacity, good performance of transportation cold chain equipment, and high degree of preservation. The characteristic fruits and vegetables produced in Yunnan have a preservation degree of 99.9% from the production base to foreign consumers. At the same time, the international cold chain intermodal transportation of the China Laos and China Vietnam railways has implemented a 50% reduction in railway freight rates, coupled with relevant subsidy policies, which can significantly reduce enterprise logistics costs and effectively drive economic and trade development in areas along the railway.


Since the opening of the China Laos Railway, the goods delivered along the whole line have exceeded 27 million tons, including 5.55 million tons of import and export freight; Since the opening of China Vietnam international railway intermodal trains, the cumulative number of trains has reached 4100, completing the cross-border freight transport of more than 1.6 million tons, the freight transport of Baoshan North Station of the China Myanmar international railway channel has exceeded 3.2 million tons, and that of Lincang Station has exceeded 1 million tons, which has clearly marked the joint construction of the "the Belt and Road" and injected surging momentum into regional prosperity and development.
